Jan 31, 2010: Announcing 2010 WWII Heritage Days
“Remember Pearl Harbor!”, Rosie the Riveter, and Glenn Miller. Experience the sights and sounds of the Greatest Generation when the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing hosts the sixth annual “WWII Heritage Days” April 24-25, 2010. The public history event will be held at The Historical Airpower Facility, Falcon Field, Peachtree City from 9am-4pm both days.
The weekend will again feature vintage aircraft, period vehicles, education displays, guest speakers and demonstrations, including mock battles between reenactors portraying American and Axis troops.
Dec 9, 2009: Remembering Pearl Harbor at the Historical Airpower Facility
The Dixie Wing hosted Peachtree City’s 2nd observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Monday December 7th 2009. The 2009 Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration included two Pearl Harbor veterans, World War II Veterans, Cadets of the Sandy Creek High School Air Force Junior ROTC, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Marine Corps League, US Submarine Veterans Association, and Honor Flight Fayette. Living history activities featured vintage military aircraft, vehicles, educational and museum displays.
The ceremony included Pearl Harbor survivor Robert Pittman speaking to the audience about his experience during the attack and his citizen soldier career during the war. This first hand account was followed by the original “Day of Infamy” address by President Franklin Roosevelt to both houses of congress, a flyover of the Dixie Wing’s PT-26 Cornell, ringing of the ships bell to observe the time of the attack, taps and the laying of a commemorative wreath by Robert Pittman and Roy Mooney under a vintage 48 star American flag at half mast.
Dec 1, 2009: Remembering Pearl Harbor
The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing, Honor Flight Fayette and local veterans organizations will join forces on Monday, December 7, 2009 to host Peachtree City’s second observance of National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. The program will be held at the Historical Airpower Facility, Falcon Field 11:00am-1:00pm.
The 2009 Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration will include living history activities featuring vintage military aircraft and vehicles and education displays. World War II veterans, many who have visited the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. courtesy of Honor Flight, will be in attendance. A memorial program will begin at noon and conclude with a wreath dedication and taps.

Two Dixie Wing members, along with several Wing aircraft, were recently featured in a CNN segment titled "Vets Flying Vets." A big thanks goes out to everyone who helped get this segment on the air!
